I’m Grace, the creator of Alchemy, 
and I’m a meat eater.

As a lifelong omnivore and home chef, I grew up cooking and savoring flavors and 
ingredients from across the culinary spectrum. I enjoy cooking meat – it is tactile, 
and there is a potent craft and pleasure behind it. But in the last few years, with the 
gentle influence of my vegetarian partner, I started to get serious about what I feel is 
a critical responsibility for all meat-eaters - to make more sustainable food choices.
 
I was equally skeptical and curious about the meat alternatives available at the grocery 
store, but I bought as many different kinds as I could get my hands on. If they had an 
ingredient list I could understand, I would try it — but they all left me wanting more. To me, they 
tasted and cooked like end-products: pre-seasoned and designed for just one dish and specific 
application. It felt limiting. I thought to myself: this is not how I cook.
 
As a chef, I crave a more versatile product. Something that is simple but also feels liberating and inspires possibility.

That is what Alchemy sets out to do - provide home-chefs with a quality meat alternative that can take on a variety of different flavors, 
feels substantive, maintains a satisfying, meaty texture, and can be integrated into any dish.
 
The Alchemy Original recipe is made with clean, whole ingredients centered around earthy, umami-rich mushrooms, pea protein, and fragrant herbs and spices. Together, these ingredients undergo an alchemical process and turn into something that is both delicious and joyful to cook with. It is nut-free, gluten-free, and 100% vegan.
